Expeditions
Sumatra Jungle Tours follows a strict code of non contact with the orang-utans. Getting too close to an orangutan increases the risk of passing on disease and viral infection, which jeopardises the semi wild orangutans chances of survival and in turn the health and survival of the wild orangutan population in this area.
We ask our guests to keep at least 10 metres away and to move away if an orang-utan approaches.
We also ask that no food or waste gets left behind ……
Expeditions
Your expedition is really a choice for you. If you wish to spend just an afternoon or morning in the Jungle, this can be arranged, but the chances and frequency of seeing the animal world up close are greatly increased with at least a full day trek. The most popular package involves an overnight camp in the jungle, where you will experience all the sounds and movement of the night time jungle. All food will be provided, and if you have any special dietry requirements, just let us know and we will cater for your needs.
The real fun begins after your hard slog trekking, with a refreshing boat ride down the River Bohorok safely navigated by your trusty guides. Surrounded by Jungle on both sides, it’s always likely to see large family troupes of longtail macau monkeys having fun on the riverbanks, while they watch you with intense curiosity. You will arrive in Bukit Lawang late in the afternoon, for a thoroughly deserved shower and change of clothing, and of course, some much needed refreshments!
More advanced trekkers may wish to spend more time in the Jungle, and here at Sumatra Jungle Tours, we are more than happy to organise these expeditions ranging from 1 week to fifteen days.
